How to Choose a Roofer in Cork — 8 Questions to Ask
Eight questions, asked before you agree anything, will save you a great deal.
Ask these before you agree a price
A competent roofer will answer all of these without hesitation, and a chancer will get uncomfortable around question three.
- Are you insured, and can I see the certificate?
- Will I get an itemised written quote before work starts?
- Does the price include scaffolding, waste removal and making good?
- What underlay, battens and fixings are you using?
- How will the ridge be fixed — mortar or dry system?
- What lead code are you using at flashings?
- What guarantee applies to the workmanship?
- Can I see photographs of the fault, and recent local references?
Deposits and payment
Materials deposits on a large job are normal and reasonable. Large cash payments up front, before materials are ordered or scaffolding goes up, are not. Pay by traceable means and keep the paperwork.
