How to Choose a Roofer in Cork — 8 Questions to Ask

Eight questions, asked before you agree anything, will save you a great deal.

Ask these before you agree a price

A competent roofer will answer all of these without hesitation, and a chancer will get uncomfortable around question three.

  • Are you insured, and can I see the certificate?
  • Will I get an itemised written quote before work starts?
  • Does the price include scaffolding, waste removal and making good?
  • What underlay, battens and fixings are you using?
  • How will the ridge be fixed — mortar or dry system?
  • What lead code are you using at flashings?
  • What guarantee applies to the workmanship?
  • Can I see photographs of the fault, and recent local references?

Deposits and payment

Materials deposits on a large job are normal and reasonable. Large cash payments up front, before materials are ordered or scaffolding goes up, are not. Pay by traceable means and keep the paperwork.
