EPDM rubber is a single-piece membrane with no seams to fail, superb on extension roofs and garages, and it copes very well with Cork's constant wet-dry cycling. Torch-on felt remains the workhorse for larger or more complicated commercial roofs.

Why flat roofs leak in Cork

Ponding is the number one cause. If water sits on a flat roof for days after rain, the fall was never built correctly and no membrane will save it long-term. We re-firr the deck to create a genuine slope to the outlet rather than laying new material over an old mistake.

The second cause is detailing at the edges — upstands too low against the wall, missing drip trims, or a flashing dressed straight over render instead of chased into a joint. Those details are where we spend the time, because they are where the water gets in.

Flat roof repairs and overlays

Where a deck is still sound, an overlay can be a genuinely cost-effective option and we will say so. Where the deck is soft underfoot or the insulation has taken on water, an overlay just traps the problem and we will not fit one.
