How Long Does a Roof Replacement Take? A Day-by-Day Timeline

Four to eight working days on a typical Cork home. Here is what happens on each of them.

The timeline

Day one is scaffolding and setting up protection. Days two and three are the strip-out and disposal, plus inspection and replacement of any decayed timber. Membrane and battens follow, then the covering, then ridge, hips, valleys and flashings, and finally rainwater goods and the clean-up.

Weather moves this. We work through normal Irish rain but not through high wind, and we never leave a roof open overnight regardless.

Living with it

You do not need to move out. Expect noise during the strip-out, scaffolding for the duration and a skip on site. Access to your door stays clear and the site is swept every evening.
