Safety first, roof second
Stay off the roof and keep everyone away from the ground beneath it — loose slates and ridge tiles come down without warning. Move furniture, catch active drips and kill the electrical circuit if water is anywhere near a fitting.
Photograph everything you can safely see from ground level before anyone touches it. Dated images taken before temporary work are worth a great deal to a claim.
Make safe, then survey
